Ocean was formed in 1999 by Ketan Pandya and Suresh
Patel.
Ketan Pandya (CEO)
Ketan has extensive experience in building financial systems.
After graduating in 1991 from Imperial College London, Ketan
joined Andersen Consulting in 1992 and worked as a senior
consultant in various industries including utility, financial,
and industrial. In 1995, Ketan was chosen to manage a team of
developers in New York to produce a global consolidated P&L
report for a major US investment bank. On its successful
conclusion, Ketan returned to London and was offered a
position to run the equity derivatives front-office technology
group in London and Frankfurt for Lehman Brothers International.
He developed derivative trading systems that became the
European standard and which were then used in London, Frankfurt
and Zurich.
After the departure of several senior traders to Chase Manhattan,
Ketan was asked to join Chase Manhattan and manage its
front-office equity derivatives technology group. There Ketan
and his team developed state-of-the-art risk and P&L systems
for equity derivatives. The Federal Reserve rated the system
very highly during its 1998 technology audit.
Ketan, left Chase Manhattan to start Ocean.
in 1999.
Suresh Patel (CTO)
Suresh graduated from the University of Manchester with a first class degree
in Computer Science, ranking at number 4 in the faculty. He since has gained
7 years experience in the software engineering field starting his career
as a systems developer at D. E. Shaw Securities where he worked on building
back and front office trading systems including trade entry, reconciliation,
pnl and communication links to third party systems.
Following D. E. Shaw, Suresh joined Merrill Lynch as a senior developer in
the Equity Derivatives front-office group where he designed and implemented
trade entry systems. Using his innovative technical skill, Suresh created
dynamic graphical front end systems allowing OTC derivative instruments to
be traded at high speed. The dynamic nature allowed the bank to quickly
implement and trade new products into the rest of the banks systems.
Suresh then joined an international firm as Head of the Advanced Technology
Group. He developed the technology infrastructure for London, New York and
Hong Kong. Here he also developed various Internet robotics engines that
sought business related data.
Suresh then went on to form Ocean. Currently, Suresh is
leading Ocean development.
Development Team
The Ocean development team currently consists of
several highly skilled software engineers. The team's industry background ranges
from Barclays Capital, ING Barings, Chase Manhattan Bank and D. E.
Shaw Securities. Although developers come from a variety of
backgrounds, they all have a degree in a Computer Science or
Numerical discipline and postgraduate qualifications.
